There are many high quality automatic vacuums on the market today. Many of them provide consumers with promises and supposedly necessary attributes. However, there are no vacuums as famously known to the common consumer as the Roomba. The Roomba series was the trailblazer of the automatic vacuum market. Now in its fifth generation, the Roomba still boasts plenty of quality capabilities for a reasonable price. With the iRobot Roomba 5th Generation Vacuum Cleaning Robot potential consumers can expect a product that has many pluses, few drawbacks, and proper warranty coverage.

I decided that my review on the iRobot Roomba 5th Generation Vacuum Cleaning Robot would be classified under the following heads:An automatic vacuum is not a simple-to-define machine. They are complex and marvelous creations of mechanics, engineering, and science. This is important to remember as you look for a automatic vacuum for yourself. Make sure you are aware of what you can expect from such a machine. While they may not be the most advanced machines in the world, as a consumer you will want a product that works thoroughly and efficiently.

Let’s start with the basic requirement of the vacuum cleaner – a capability to detect dirt and clean it.

Dirt Detection

For more intense cleaning coverage, this automatic vacuum is equipped with Dirt Detection technology. Whenever the device senses dirt, the blue Dirt Detect light illuminates and Roomba cleans that area effectively.

Modes of Operation

The Roomba runs on two separate operating modes. During the Clean Mode, the device calculates the size of the room and adjusts its cleaning time accordingly. The Roomba also has a Spot Mode, wherein the device performs specifically on a localized area. It spirals approximately three feet in diameter and returns spiraling back to the its original position.

Navigation

This vacuum cleaner uses various techniques for its effective navigation in order to clean most efficiently. The “Wall Following” capability allows the device to clean the entire perimeter of the room whilst finding its way around furniture and other obstacles. Thanks to the Roomba’s “Crossing” capabilities, the device moves along every capable inch of the room to ensure that not a single position is left untouched.

Battery Lifetime

This device includes a Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery that is rechargeable. This battery will withstand hundreds of cycles before replacement need be considered. When you are using the vacuum cleaner for the first time, a 16 hours charge is necessary. This ensures proper battery life. With a proper charge and battery maintenance, the battery lasts for at least one full clean cycle.

yes the rbomoas do pick up sand. I have owned my rbomoa for over a year now and I love it. You just have to make sure your room is rbomoa proofed -don’t leave any power cords in it’s way or socks on the floor. Basically any thing you would pick up before you would vaccum normally has to be picked up.
